White Plains Scholars Receive ScholarshipsPR Contact: Tina Mancuso, 914-539-2568For Immediate Release White Plains, NY, May 26, 2009 – Scholars from the 3 local high schools - White Plains High School, Archbishop Stepinac High School and Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School - received scholarships today from The Rotary Club of White Plains. The scholarship presentation was led by Nick Wolfe and Bob Lapp, White Plains Rotary Scholarship Co-Chairs. Present from the participating schools were Westchester Superintendent of Schools, Timothy Connors; Sister Saint Martin from Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School; Paul Dalto from Archbishop Stepinac High School; and Ivan Toper, Principal, White Plains High School. The 2009 White Plains Rotary scholarship winners are:
Marcus Simans, White Plains High School, received The Thomas W. Bachman Scholarship. Marcus will attend Rochester or Emery.
Jeanie Chen, White Plains High School, received The Michelle and Michael Mooney Scholarship. Jeanie will attend Columbia University. Colin Berth, Stepinac High School, received The John W. Ruger Scholarship. Colin will attend SUNY Albany. Clois Jensen, White Plains High School, received The Henry O. Mertens Scholarship. Clois will attend Hobart William Smith. Liscare Castro, White Plains High School, received The Edward Anderberg Scholarship. Liscare will attend Barnard College. The following students also received Rotary scholarships:
The Rotary Club of White Plains was chartered in 1919. The Club has 122 active members and meets every Tuesday at 12:15pm at the Crowne Plaza, 66 Hale Street, White Plains. The Club sponsors various fund raisers throughout the year to support their scholarship fund and other community programs.
