POLICIES OF THE ROTARY CLUB
OF WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK
Use of Roster
The membership roster is not to be used for any solicitations; it is for members'
personal use only, for Rotary business.
This prohibition includes email address lists. The White Plains club will not make
the email list available to any organization for any purpose, including Rotary
District mailings. However, if District 7230 wishes to send a message to our club
members, and the Board approves, then the webmaster will forward the message, but the
webmaster will not release the email address file.
This policy has been published in the past, yet the board suggests it be reiterated
strongly in pre-induction, that it be mentioned regularly at meetings, and that it be
included in Bulletins. (7/31/2002)
Leave of Absence
Any active member in good standing may request a Leave of Absence by
submitting such request, in writing, to the Board of Directors.
When approved by the Board, a Leave of Absence permits the member to be
excused from attendance requirements and other participation obligations, so long as
dues are paid and the member remains in good standing in all other respects. That
means the member will remain as an active member on the Rotary International rolls,
and continue to receive The Rotarian and club announcements (via email).
Each Leave of Absence approved by the Board shall be reviewed by the Board
at least annually. (7/31/2002)
Donations to other Rotary Clubs
The Rotary Club of White Plains is interested in and open to proposals for
partnering with other clubs to raise money for worthwhile service projects. The Club
will not make direct contributions, however, to other clubs' fundraisers
without the explicit approval of the Board of Directors. The rationale is that funds
raised by the White Plains club should support only projects sponsored by the club.
Therefore, we would be pleased to partner with other clubs and participate in joint
project sponsorships, but not simply to donate the money we have raised to another
club's effort. (3/20/2002)
