AnnouncementsMany: Jaroslaw Palylyk from the Ukraine Congress Committee of America thanked us for our donation from our fund raiser. We raised $15,000 for our Scholarship Fund B and $15,000 to Ukraine. Ted W hopes for a good turnout for the Boulders game on 7/23. Past outings were a lot of fun and fellowship at the bargain rate of $60. On 7/28 a new street, Harry O Bright Jr Way will be established at the intersection of Chatterton and Jefferson at 12 o'clock noon followed by a delicious lunch at the Slater Center at 1PM. Steve Holden was presented with a plaque for his years of service as bell ringing coordinator leading to large donations to the Salvation Army. On 7/23 we are asked to donate a couple of hours in the morning as camp counselors at Ridgeway School. Norm gave us inspirational words as outgoing president emphasizing the meaning of service above self.
Guests and Visiting RotariansState Senator Shelly Mayer (not really a guest) and Jaroslaw Palylyk
WinnersKarl M won the split and Steve H won the right to pick for the joker next week
HappinessNIck for Daryl's induction into the Halo club and Norm's great job, Norm for the change in leadership, Andy for Norm, LIbby for Norm, Bill F for Norm and his grandchildren's accomplishments, Amy for Rebecca's improvement and the club member's kindness and interest, Paul F had a hole in one (!), Ted for Norm, Steve for a great Halo Club dinner, Irina for the club's support for Ukraine, Nick for Amy's induction, Al L for golf outing, Larry W for the peaceful transition of power, and I for the huge amount of material for the upcoming Roast of Norm next summer (sounds a bit like a dinner special, doesn't it?)
ProgramThe installation of Amy Via as President of Rotary: Daryl acted as emcee for the event. Andy, looking very dapper, gave us few anecdotes of his experiences as DG and a definition of Rotarian as to how we help the world and mankind in so many ways. Ted as Membership Chair told how our club is back to growing, as in grow or die, and reminded us that membership is job #1. PP Steve pinned Amy with her president's pin. The gavel was passed along by all the PP's to Amy followed by a short bio of Amy by Libby. Finally our new president spoke a few words of her vision for the coming year as well as naming her new slogan which will be either "Don't mess with me" or "Being the light" with the latter seeming to have the inside track as of now!
