Tuesday, December 1, 2020Noon Zoom with election of new officers -- Speaker Charles L. Kerr has studied local history, specifically the lengthy dispute between competing claims of John Richbell and the Citizens of Rye to the land area that became White Plains. This long saga, which unfolded between 1664 and 1722, touches on this specific land dispute as well as broader dynamics between the Dutch Government of New Netherland and the English Government in form of the Province of Connecticut and, later, the claims of the Duke of York to Long Island and the areas to the west.

John is also a Westchester County prosecutor by day, a White Plains resident, and former neighbor of Ted Nygreen. You don't even need to be a sports fan to be fascinated by this cultural historian's analysis of our society and the influence of sports.
