Since 1961, the Rotary Club of White Plains has been awarding college scholarships to high achieving, local high school Seniors.
This year, our Club awarded 26 scholarships, including two new, named scholarships to honor outstanding, long time White Plains Rotarians,
Ira Bernstein and John Ramsdell.
Thank you to all of our supporters for helping us raise the funds to provide these scholarships.
Congratulations to all these hard working students!
Nick Wolff presented the awards and thanked the White Plains Rotary Scholarship Committee, including Chairperson Rosa Boone.
There were 19 recipients from White Plains High School, 4 from Stepinac High School, and 1 from Good Counsel Academy.
Each student was given a $1,000 award and asked to indicate which college they would be attending and their preferred major field of studies.
Students will be attending SUNY Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, New Paltz, Columbia, Cornell, Syracuse, Loyola, Howard,
NYU, UC Berkeley, Dominican, Manhattanville and Westchester CC to name a few.
Majors were Business, Medicine, Nursing, Engineering, International Relations and several knowingly undecided.
The 2 Music Awardees were from White Plains H.S.
Harry Bright presented the Music Awards of $500 each to the two students from White Plains High School. In addition to continuing their music interest, these students are also academically accomplished and will be studying Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science.
