Does the Rotary Club of White Plains give scholarships?

YES, we give scholarships to graduating seniors from local high schools who are attending college in the Fall. We have a proud tradition of honoring many high school seniors from our two local high schools.

However, at this time our club does not award other scholarships. We receive many requests every year for financial assistance - especially from students overseas who need funds to attend graduate programs in the New York area.

Alas, we are not resourced to provide funding for additional scholarships. The Rotary Club of White Plains does not sponsor international students to study in the USA.

Reviewed/reaffirmed June 14, 2018

The White Plains Rotary Club is pleased to announce the continuation of its Student Scholarship Program for students at White Plains High School and Stepinac High School. Interested students who meet the criteria below are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Application forms are completed and returned to the designated person at each school by early March of each year. Interviews are then held in the spring.

The following items need to be submitted by students as part of the application packet. These include: a fully completed application form with wallet size photo (or legible photocopy) attached; a completed budget sheet, with an updated budget sheet regarding budget status at time of interview; an essay, not to exceed one page, on why being a scholarship recipient would be important; a summary of extra-curricular activities and community/volunteer activities; and, a school transcript of grades received during high school.

To be eligible for consideration by the Rotary Scholarship Committee, a student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, or 80% over the four year high school period. By the time of the student interview in the spring, the student will need to provide evidence of acceptance into a college. An eligible student must be attending a White Plains high school (White Plains or Stepinac), but does not have to be a White Plains resident. Any student with a close relative who is a member of the White Plains Rotary Club is not eligible for consideration (close relative: parent, grandparent, uncle/aunt).
